PETER DOWD

Peter Dowd was my uncle. He was born in Belfast but moved with his parents and sisters (including my mother) to Dublin following the Belfast Blitz. In the 1940s Peter studied at what is now the National College of Art and Design. He worked to commission including in 1967 The Church of the Seven Sacraments, Lowertown, Goleen, West Cork.

Peter taught at Dunlaoghaire School of Art (now Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology). In his retirement Peter worked with his friend and former student Michael Killen.
