Laverty family: my great grandmother’s siblings, the children of James Laverty (c1838-1905) and Rose Anne Johnston (c1842-1883).

*The image shown is of James Laverty and Maura Kelly.

John Patrick Laverty (1864-), twins Rose Laverty (1866-1881) and Mary Ann Laverty (1866-1938) who married Joseph Millar and became my great grandparents, Harget/Harriet Laverty (1868-1890), Henry Laverty (1870-), Daniel Laverty (1872-1942), James Laverty (1877-1884), Alexander Laverty (1880-).

John Patrick Laverty might have married Ellen Haughey in 1898 in Belfast.

Harget/Harriet Laverty married Dyas Magill in 1889 in Ballymena but died only a few months later. Dyas Magill remarried.

Daniel Laverty, coach-builder/smith, married in Belfast in 1896 Catherine McDonnell, her father is given as William McKillen, bricklayer, but I cannot figure out this peculiarity.

Daniel and Catherine had thirteen children. James Laverty (1897-), Daniel Laverty (1898-1898), Bernard Michael Laverty (1899-1901), Joseph Ernest Laverty (1900-1985), Sarah Mary (Sadie) Laverty (1902-), Daniel Leo Laverty (1903-?1981), Kathleen Teresa Laverty (1905-1910), Mary Rosaline Laverty (1907-), Hugh Patrick Laverty (1908-1909), Henry Gerald Laverty (1910-1914), Alexander Augustine Laverty (1912-1914), John Lawrence Laverty (1913-), William Gerald Laverty (1915-1917), and Kathleen Maureen Laverty (1917-2005).

*James/Seumas Laverty (1897-1967), journalist, married in 1928 in Kildare, Maura Kelly (-1966) who, as Maura Laverty wrote cook-books and was a TV cook, she also wrote Tolka Row a long-running Irish TV soap as well as many books of fiction. They had three children a son James (-1974) and daughters Barrie (an artist), and Maeve (-1974) who married Thomas Carney and lived in Philadelphia.

Joseph Ernest Laverty, carpenter, married in 1937 Lois Margaret Field Blackwell, hairdresser, (c1909-1979) in Vancouver but seem not to have had children.

Sarah Mary (Sadie) went to Canada aged 47

Daniel Leo lived in Montreal by 1946

John Lawrence was living in Belfast in 1946

Mary Rosaline went to Montreal to join Daniel Leo in 1946

Kathleen Maureen went to Montreal with her sister Mary Rosaline. Kathleen Maureen Laverty married Herbert R Poeschl (1918-2007) in Montreal. They had several children.

Alexander Laverty (1880-), joiner, married in 1904 in Belfast, Margaret Keating, tailoress, her father was Michael Keating deceased in 1904. Alexander and Margaret lived in Liverpool and had three children. Kathleen (c1905-), James Michael (1908-), and Michael B[ernard?] (c1911-). I know that Michael married and had children and at least one grandchild.
